Recipe(tried): Starter for the Fruitcake Recipe

HERE IS THE RECIPE FOR THE STARTER FOR THE GRANDMA'S FRUITCAKE RECIPE: THE REAL NAME IS:

FRIENDSHIP CAKE

(1.) combine the following ingredients in a
large jar. and stir daily for 10 days.
do not seal, tie a cloth around it and
do not refrigerate.

2 1/2 cups sugar
1- 19oz. can peaches (with juice)
(slightly bigger or less can of fruit
-is sufficient)
1- pkg dry yeast

(2.) on the 10th day, add the following ingredients
and stir daily for 10 days more.

2 1/2 cups sugar
1- 15oz can fruit cocktail (with juice)
1- 15 oz can crushed pineapple (with juice)

(3.)on the 20th day, add the following ingredients
and stir daily for 10 more days.

2- 9oz,jars maraschino cherries chopped (with juice)
2 1/2 cups sugar

(4.)on the 30th day, drain juice from the fruit
and store separately in refrigerator until ready
to use. (keeps well) use pint jars for storing in
the frig.

TO REMAKE THE STARTER:
use 1 pint jar of liquid
2 1/2 cups of sugar
1- 19 oz can peaches (with juice)

and start from number #1(leaving out the yeast).
give 1 pint of starter (the liquid)
and the recipe away to a friend.
always omit the yeast when using starter, \
to start another batch.

TO MAKE CAKE:

1- 3oz box instant vanilla pudding
2/3 cups cooking oil
4 eggs
1- 18.5oz box yellow cake mix
(use small amount of the cake mix in
-the nuts and raisins.)
1 1/2 cups fruit mixture
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans)
1 cup raisins

combine pudding, oil, eggs, and cake mix.
beat 3 minutes at medium speed.
with spoon blend fruit with floured nuts and
raisins to the batter.
pour into a greased tube or bunt cake pan.

bake in preheated oven at 325 degress
for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.

FROSTING FOR CAKE

1- 8oz pkg cream cheese (softened)
1- stick butter or margarine
1- box powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
