Some More Turkey Day Ideas....

Misc.
Hi Loretta,

Thanksgiving is a BIG holiday for our family. We usually have friends and family over. If there are 8 guests, I have a sit-down. This year will be twelve so I will be doing it buffet-style.

Our Thanksgiving Menu this year:

Hot Cider and Buttered Rum
Tuscan Cream Cheese Spread/Crackers
Chardonnay

I have this in the kitchen as people are milling about and I am doing last minute preparations. I have found thru the years that people love hanging out around the tv set, watching games or the parade. Lots of conversation is going about....

I start all my casseroles the night before and keep them in the fridge before baking the next day. Then on Turkey day all you cook are the mashed potatoes and heat all the single veggies. I also make the rolls early in the day so that they are fresh. Also, I make all the desserts the day before. You want to have to do as little as possible on that day so that you spend time with family and guests. We always eat at 2PM so I know I have a busy day the day before.

Here's the rest of the menu:

Orange Glazed Roasted Tom Turkey
Apple, Pecan & Sausage Stuffing
Gravy
Sweet Potato Crunch
Squash Casserole
Corn Pudding
Spinach Noodle Kugel
Garlic Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes
Sweet Peas
Buttered Corn
Cole Slaw
Cranberry Conserve
Dinner Rolls
Pumpkin Spice Bread
Strawberry Nut Congealed Salad
Cranberry Pecan Bread
Fresh Fruit Tart with Custard
Cinnamon-Molasses Pumpkin Pie with Honey Pecan Crust
Chocolate Brownies

As you can see, I enjoy making a variety and having lots of leftovers. We think the left-overs are the best part because you can make pot pies, hash, club sandwiches, open faced sandwishes, soups, etc.

Good Luck on planning your menu, you will have lots of fun!

Happy Cooking....Gina
