Recipe: Doggie Bites (BBQ hot dogs and meatballs, crock pot)
Appetizers and SnacksDOGGIE BITES
"This is a fun version of the old hot dogs simmered in barbecue sauce. I tried this recipe during a tailgate session at one of the many tracks I visited and didn't write it down, or even who it came from or exactly what was in it. So I tried it at home and came up with my own version. That's the great thing about camper cities at racetracks they're full of fun and great ideas."
1 package hot dogs
1/2 pound smoked sausage
1/2 pound kielbasa
1/2 pound bratwurst (cooked)a
1/2 pound frozen (cooked) meatballs
1 can sloppy Joe mix (sauce, like Manwich)
2 cups favorite barbecue sauce
Water as needed
Slice all of the meats into bite-size pieces. Combine with everything else in a crockpot.
Cover crock pot and simmer on LOW for as long as possible and serve hot.
If you have a favorite meat toss it in! Store in a freezer bag until needed at your track event then just warm them up!
