Recipe: Wedding Pound Cake from the White House (Lynda's Wedding Cake, 1960's)

WEDDING POUND CAKE FROM THE WHITE HOUSE

LYNDA'S WEDDING CAKE


"The White House today ordered this recipe, reduced to home proportions, for duplicating the wedding cake for Lynda Bird Johnson."

1 pound powdered sugar
1 pound butter
1 pound cake flour
12 eggs
Flavor with mace and lemon rind (to taste)

Whip butter until light, add sugar and mix for three minutes, add eggs - two at a time - continue to mix. Finally, add flour and mix lightly but fully.

Bake in paper-lined pans. Bake in oven at 275 degrees F for approximately one hour.
