Recipe(tried): Baby shower ideas
Misc.I just threw a baby shower for my niece and some of the things I did are listed below:
1. Freeze small plastic babies (found at craft stores) in ice cube trays. 1st one to break out of the ice (give birth) wins prize.
2. Have mom bring in a tray of baby items and have her walk out of the room. Ask guests questions about mom. What was she wearing. Color of shoes. etc.
3. Pass ribbon around and have each person cut the size they think mom's belly is. Closest wins. Or to make it funny, measure mom's head.
4. Set off a timer for every 10 minutes. The gift mom opens, the giver gets a prize.
5. Buy a ceramic piggy bank and have each guest sign it in perm. marker as a memory gift to mom and baby.
6. Tell everyone to empty all of their loose change into the piggbank to start the college fund. Most money in wins prize.
Now for the food. I made all appetizers and pulled pork. Finger foods work best and especially when you can put them on side tables next to the chairs.
consider:
Homemade chex mix with dried cranberries
pigs in a blanket (lil sausages wrapped in croissant rolls)
meatballs (frozen and 1 jar of grape jelly and 1 jar chili sauce)
Sausage Stars (time consuming but awesome. 1lb mild sausage. Cook and add 1/2 cup ranch dressing, small can sliced black olives, dash of lemon juice and a few sprinkles of crushed red pepper along with 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese. Take won ton wrappers and place in mini muffin pan, spray with pam, bake 350 for 5 minutes. Remove and stuff shells with mixture and bake for 5 minutes more. Good hot or cold.
Cheese ball - cream cheese, chopped deli beef, green onion an a few small tablespoons of mayo. Crushed garlic and dill is good too, but the breath is horrible. Mix all together and form two separate balls, roll each in crushed up pegans. Place in a pretty bowl and refrig. till the party.
I also served punch which was a lot easier than dealing with 6 or 7 different sodas. Although I did have soda on hand, everyone preferred the punch.
1 container orange sherbert
1/2 of a half gallon of vanilla ice cream
2 cans frozen organge juice concentrate (prepare accroding to directions)
1 2 liter of 7up or sprite
1 2 liter of giner ale
mix liquids together, scoop in ice cream.
If you need more, I have tons of ideas I can email you.
