Recipe: Bridesmaid Luncheon Ideas - A few more thoughts for BV/AR
Holidays, CelebrationsBV/AR
How very nice of you to give this shower for your daughter's special friend.
I have a few thoughts about your seating and serving. I think it is lovely that you have the possibility of the group being able to sit at tables in your family room. It would be very nice to have everyone in one room. It is always nice to be able to sit at a table to eat -- not having to have to balance food plates and drink cups which is a necessity sometimes.
I think it would also be elegant to use your good linens and silver. That will be very special.
How about having your place settings already on the individual tables.
Have your food platters and bowls on the dining table so guests can see their food choices before being seated.
Guests can be seated at the tables and your food platters can be passed "family style" so each guest can take the portions they wish.
Or, you can use smaller serving plates and bowls and have each table with their "family style" serving dishes.
Your idea about including something from the gals who toured and sang together sounds very special. Would it be possible to ask those gals to organize something to surprise the bride-to-be? Did they wear special outfits when they toured? Could they bring these clothes with them and change into the outfits for their presentation? Did they video tape their performances? Maybe playing the video would be fun. Or, maybe they can tell some fun stories about their touring together.
Another thought might be to ask each guest, in advance, to write out one or two of their favorite memories of being with the bride. Something funny or sentimental, whatever they want.
You could ask each guest to read their memory to the bride OR.. you could make a guessing game from the memories. If everyone in the group already knows everyone else, you could read the memoires and have everyone guess who wrote it. Or, you could have the bride guess who wrote it each special thought.
If you do have everyone write something, be sure you put these treasures into a scrapbook for the bride.
I encourage you to solicit the help of some of your guests, or maybe some young family members or neighbors, to assist with your party. They could be assigned tasks such as helping to serve the seated guests, refilling drink or coffee cups, picking up the plates from the tables, etc. And, if you plan on taking the tables down after eating, they could help with that.
I think it is very important that YOU be part of the function, not just a runner and server.
I am looking forward to other ideas from RecipeLink folks. We have so many very talented folks at this site.
Again, I applaud you for honoring your friend with this shower. Keep us posted BV/AR.
