My son was Special Forces for 9 years, was everywhere in the world that would make any mother worry constantly, lol. (I really wish he would have considered being an accountant, lol. I always sent Cowboy Cookies they travel very well. I'm sure you can find the recipe here, they're very common and very easy to make.

Also, you may want to include Chap Stick, they really need that in that climate. Hope this helps and I'll say a prayer for him and his mother.
