EASY PASTA SAUCE
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1 large garlic clove, crushed
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste (1 1/3 cups)
2 cups water
12 teaspoon crushed oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon crushed basil leaves
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
Hot cooked pasta (for serving)
Saute onion, green pepper and garlic in medium saucepan.
Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; boil gently, uncovered. 30 minutes. Remove bay leaf.
Serve sauce over hot, cooked pasta.
Makes about 3 1/2 cups sauce
