I don't know if everyone knows these tips or not but I use them all the time.
How to tell between hardboiled eggs and normal eggs. Spin them on a flat surface. Harboiled eggs will spin. A regular egg will not.
How to tell if an egg is still usable even if past its date.
Take a tallish narrow container (I use a big yogurt plastic tub) and fill with cool water. Put the questioned eggs in one at a time. If it sinks, it is still good to use. If it floats, it is no good. Do not use - discard that egg. Works like a charm.
