Recipe: Apple Crisp (using oats)

APPLE CRISP

6 cups sliced, peeled apples
1 tsp cinnamon, if desired
1 tbsp water
1 tsp lemon juice
1 cup rolled oats, uncooked
3/4 cup all purposes flour
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Place apples in unggrteased 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle with cinnamon, water and lemon juice.

In large bowl, combine remaining ingredients, mix with pastry blender or fork until crumbly. Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over apples.

Bake at 375 for 25 to 35 minutes or until fruit is tender and topping is golden brown.

Serve warm with cream, ice cream or whipped cream.
