Recipe: Ginger Crisps (cookies, Dixie Crystals recipe, 1960-70's)

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup Dixie Crystals (white granulated) sugar (plus additional for dipping)
1 egg, unbeaten
4 Tbsp. dark molasses
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. ground ginger
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets.
Mix in order given. Roll in balls the size of marble; dip in additional granulated sugar. Place sugar side up on prepared cookie sheets.
Bake 15 to 20 at 350 degrees F. Watch carefully or they may get too brown.
