my husband and son got very sick from green bamboo, when they handled it. I advise you wash your hand good or wear gloves if handling it.
A Note from Betsy at Recipelink.com:
Hi Barbara,
Thank you for posting the warning. I did some searching and found reports that Lucky Bamboo can cause allergic reactions for some when handling. It is also toxic to pets (or humans) if eaten. The plant is actually a Dracaena Sanderiana (also known as Ribbon Plant when sold planted in soil). Info from the ASPCA:
Common Name: Ribbon Plant
Scientific Name: Dracaena sanderiana
Family: Agavaceae
Toxic Principle: Saponins
Clinical signs: Vomiting (occasionally with blood), depression, anorexia, hypersalivation, dilated pupils (cats)
