HOW TO COOK HAM SLICES

"Ham slices can be baked, broiled or pan broiled."
TO BAKE A HAM SLICE:
Put a 2-inch-thick, fully cooked ham slice on a rack in a shallow pan and bake in slow oven (325 degrees F) 40 minutes. A cook-before-eating ham slice requires 60 minutes.
The slice can be studded with whole cloves and topped with a glaze before baking, if desired. See Glazes for Baked Ham (click here).
TO BROIL A HAM SLICE:
Slash the fat edges in several places to prevent curling. Broil 3-inches from unit. A 1-inch-thick slice of fully-cooked ham requires 5 minutes per side. Allow 10 minutes per side for cook-before-eating ham slice. Thinner ham slices should be pan-broiled.
TO PAN-BROIL HAM SLICES:
Select slices 1/4- to 1/2-inch thick. Trim fat from edge of slices and rub over heated skillet. Snip fat edge of slices in several places to keep edge from curling. Put in skillet and pan-broil until browned on both sides, 2 to 5 minutes on each side for cook-before-eating slices and 1 1/2 to 2 minutes for fully-cooked slices.
