Hi,
I am also Pennsylvania Dutch. We make this recipe with a few differences. We layer the dough and the potato's and cook it all together at the same time. When it is done we mix chopped uncooked onions with apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper. This is spooned on the top of each serving. We each put on our own. Some of us like more some of us like less. But make sure you do not cook the onions. This makes it very tasty.... I know, it sounds gross. Just try it!
