Here is a another version.

1 head cabbage
1 can butter beans
1 large onion
6 slices bacon
1 Tbsp vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
1 head cabbage shredded, fine;l large onion sliced combine in large pot covered
with salted water (about 2 tsp.) and steam. In a heavy frying pan render about
6 slices of bacon (cut into 1 inch pieces) make a stiff rue meduim brown. add
to cooked cabbage to thicken. Run a knife through the beans before you add to
thickened cabbage. Heat through and serve.
