Recipe: Knox Gelatinized Drink with Variations (1950's)

KNOX GELATINIZED DRINK

For added protein in a normal diet.

Drink an envelope of Knox Unflavored Gelatine softened or softened and dissolved in water or other liquids, with meals as a protein supplement; or half hour before meals to reduce appetite; or between meals to allay hunger. One envelope protein unflavored gelatin (6.8 gms.) is 27 calories.

TO SOFTEN - place 1 envelope Knox Unflavored Gelatine in glass. Fill with liquid (see below). Let stand until soft. Stir well before drinking. If drink becomes too thick add more liquid.

TO SOFTEN AND DISSOLVE - place 1 envelope Knox Unflavored Gelatine in top of double boiler. Add 1/4 cup cold liquid (see below). When softened, place over boiling water. Stir until dissolved. and clear. Pour into glass. Stir in 3/4 cup cold liquid before drinking.

Apricot nectar or juice
Cherry juice
Cranberry juice
Fruit juice combinations
Grapefruit juice
Orange juice
Pear nectar or juice
Pineapple juice
Prune juice
Tangerine juice
Carrot juice
Sauerkraut juice
Tomato juice
Vegetable juice cocktail

Bouillons, hot
Clam nectar. hot
Soups, hot

Coffee, hot or cold
Tea, with lemon or cream, hot or cold
Chocolate, hot or cold
Postum, hot

Milk
Milk shakes or malts
Milk combinations
Buttermilk
Chocolate milk
