Misc.Hi Debra,
Just to be sure, before using the fruit, I would take a branch sample with a few hanging fruit to a local nursery or contact your local extension service and ask if you can bring it in to have identified.

Hello,
I hope you can help me. I recently moved to a new home due
to emiment domain for a highway. The house we moved to has
a tree in the middle of the one field that is near the house, and this tree has the most beautiful red blooms in
the springtime. The first year we got no fruit. This year, however, it is loaded with little red apples. I
think this must be a crabapple tree, but until someone
confirms it I am afraid to try them. The are big in size
this year, and lots and lots of them on the tree. Is this
a crabapple, and how do you use the fruit? I do not want
to eat something that is going to hurt me, but I do not want to waste the fruits if they are real crabapples. What
time of year are they ready to take off and use??? Should
the tree have thorns on it? Debra
