ISO: Italian cookies with honey and sprinkles?

My neighbor grew up in NY and would like to make the cookies her friends Italian Grandmother made. Whe said they were small crisp balls, cooked in a pan on the stove, and when they were done, they were covered in honey and sprinkles, and the sprinkles would stain the tin foil they were in. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

She also is looking for the cream cheese cutouts her friends Grandma made also, she is looking for an authentic italian recipe. Thanks in advance for the help!
