ISO: Looking for stewed tomato recipe from years past

I am looking for an old time stewed tomato recipe-it consisted of peeling tomatoes and smashing them down and putting in a skillet and adding a cornstarch and milk mixture and then served over toast-if anyone has heard or made this recipe I sure would appreciate some help-Thanks
