ISO: Miller & Paine crumb cookies - yellow cake crumbs question

Misc.
Betsy and all, I am talking about the yellow cake in the recipe. How dry should it be to make crumbs. I don't remember the cookies being coarse, that is why I am confused. With all the Crisco, milk, eggs, molasses, etc, I would think very dry. But don't want to ruin the cookies.
