ISO: steak in cast iron fry pan

I once saw a recipe for cooking steak etc. in a smoking hot cast iron fry pan, in the oven. Tried it, loved it, can't remember it and didn't write it down. Was on a cooking show where the guy only discussed one topic per show. Can't even remember the name of the show. Can someone help soon? Son's birthday dinner Sunday and this is his request for his dinner. Thanks in advance.
