Condensed milk

There is a recipe to make the caramel from the milk; is this what you want or a pie recipe using condensed milk? The post telling how to make caramel heating the unopened can is not recommnded safe by the makers of the can. In fact, I believe there is the caution on most cans. I did make the caramel that way years ago and it was very good until one day. I had put it on the stove and my neighbor called from outside. She was an eldery lady and had gotten herself down and couldn't get up. Suddenly I heard an explosion and I knew. My kitchen was a total diaster and I found caramel in rooms as far as 3 rooms from the kitchen. i was lucky that my little boys were outside with me. Needless to say, I couldn't agree more with the makers when they say not to do this.
