Thanks Page, for all that good advice, I did not know about the rubber bands. I shall pass this info on to my lads. I don't have too many nice pieces left to clean. When my three boys left home to find their own little nests, I gave most of the pieces to the boys. I did keep a lovely pair of candlestick holders, and a coffee pot on a stand with underneath heater, plus a very decorative tablespoon. They were an inheritance from my fathers step-mother, and unlike her, I didn't think the boys should have to wait for my death before getting some nice things for their homes.
