Recipe(tried): cleaning silver ??? READ this ...

Misc.

Hi all,
I like silver, i REALLY do. My Son is now the official silver cleaner and cleasn it where ver he gets the chance :)

He was at my step moms and cleaned all of hers (silverware) and had such fun. A few things i would like topass on to you

NEVER use tarnex it eats your silver you want a POLISH and protector not a CLEANER. liek "Haggerties" or "Tarnie shield"

That said storage is IMPORTANT and that is the reason of this message. Eveidently i had forgotton to pass on to my silver expert not to use rubber bands around silver. IT DRAWS IN TARNISH.

Bless his heart he cleaned very well all of her silverware, and they deciede to bag it since she does not use it. he wrapped it all in groups forks spoons knives ect in plastic wrap which was great but then he wrapped each set in 1 or 2 rubber bands then put in a ziploc or 2 which was also great (the ziplocs) but the RUBBER BANDS were WRONG :) proof positive when he opened and looked and each little package had tarnish right where the bands had been -- cleaned and wrapped 3 days ago!! ALREADY had marked it and really well!!

So please do not use rubber to tie up a bag of silver :)

AND as you all already know do not let clorine bleach near you silver -- and tarnish does hurt it so keep it clean and used or stroe in plastic.

take care and keep the heirlooms nice :)

oh and i have learned the hard way -- use care if tring that "homade cleaner" it can ruin silver depending on what is in it :)
