June, About the Avjar....

Misc.
Hi June,

Thank you for posting the site. I went and checked it out and was amazed at all the products they have. But, Corrado's in Clifton, NJ sells their 19.3 oz. mild avjar for 1.99, now that is quite a deal. My sister is sending me 4 bottles.

Corrado's number is 800-232-2052 if you want to order it.

I am finding that I am adding it to all my dishes. My sister told me it is wonderful as an hors d'oeuvres over cream cheese and served with crackers. I bet it would make a wonderful addition to a cheeseball.

In the meantime, today I went to the local produce stand, and yes, you guessed it, I bought the ingredients for the avjar that Betsy posted for us. I will experiment making it. But frankly, I spent far more than the 1.99 that the jar costs. As much as I enjoy making stuff from scratch, this is one thing I will buy in the future because of the expense involved with the red peppers alone.

Thanks a bunch though for finding that site. Now I am on the lookout in the library for croatian cookbooks to see what that cooking is all about.

Happy Cooking!! Gina
