re: Food History

Misc.
LauraAnne.... your book club venture sounds like great fun.

A link that could help your food search is the Food Timeline.

I looks to me like a book by Catharine Esther Beecher 1800-1878 would be the "cat's meow" in this project. "Miss Beecher's Housekeeper and Healthkeeper" contains five hundred recipes for economical and healthful cooking; also, many directions for securing health and happiness from that time frame. I see there is a link to a re-print of this book here in the Food History section of RecipeLink.

Keep us posted, LauraAnne. This sounds like great fun. Kelly
