Re: Golabki

Misc.

My wife is Ukrainian...I love good sarma, as she calls them. This is my mothers recipie for an Americanized "pigs-in-the-blankets":

Core one head cabbage. Put into pan boiling water. Cook for 1/2-hour and remove from pan. Set aside to cool, separating leaves after cool.

In a bowl, mix 1+1/2 pounds ground beef with one cup cooked minute rice and one cup diced onion. Salt and pepper to taste.

To make pigs, take one cabbage leaf and roll up around one ball (3/4 cup or smaller) meat mixture. Secure with toothpick and place in an oven pan. Arrange all pigs in a single layer.

In another bowl mix three cans tomato soup with 8 to 12 ounces sour cream (depends on taste preference). When thoroughly incorporated, pour over pigs and bake, covered, at 350 for 90 minutes. YUMMY!
