Misc.and yes, you are quite correct, cornmeal and cornflour are two different animals!
Polenta is coarse cornmeal that is cooked, I don't know if that would give you a satisfactory result, texture-wise.
If you have access to corn, and a way to dry it, you could make your own cornmeal by grinding the dried corn.
The only other thing I can think of is to try and find a cornmeal baking mix for muffins or bread.
