School starting tip and story

Misc.

First the tip - about 2 weeks after school starts, school supplies go on sale. If your kids can get a few basics to start, you can save a lot of money by waiting a week or two.

Now, the tale.....Two years ago, as the bus pulled away on the first day of school, I headed for my celebratory shower free of 'hey Mom' etc. When I got out, my dog was going crazy, barking and carrying on. I pulled on clothes and followed him only to be met by my son's 3 1/2 foot iguana.........out of his cage and very happy to be free. I tried to pick him up only to be on the receiving end of his whipping tail.... I donned the heavy firewood gloves, got a yard stick and the fishing net. By the time I got back in, Iggy had wandered back over on top of his cage, so I pushed the lid with the yardstick, which tipped him over, but he held on to the screening with his 'fingers', so I had to undo that with one hand while holding the lid down and all the time trying to avoid the whipping tail. I did finally get him in.

Now, Iggy got out again during Christmas break when my son was home, which was a good thing because that time he had crawled across the room, up into the turtles box and then proceeded to climb up my lace curtains.............yes, I was just thrilled to pieces. That time, I was able to 'pet' him on his head which for some reason he loved and he relaxed. My son held him as I carefully unhooked his feet from the curtains, petting him the entire time. That earned a new latching system on his cage for a 'Christmas gift'.

Happy school starting days!!
