Scrapbooking Mom's photos and Memories....

Misc.
I have always been the keeper of the photos in the family, along with my Mom.Since her death in April, I have been going thru lots of photos & much of her writing. Our whole family enjoyed the book, To Our Children's Children by Bob Greene and D.G Fulford, both she & I put down it writing many of the memories it generated.(My son even used this book while courting the girl who eventually became his wife. He used the questions to get to know each other better, just as he had used it to find out more about his grandparents& parent's childhoods better. Guess you can see I'm a great fan of this book!) Many of the photos Mom had recently pulled out of a photo album that was falling apart. Many have names notations on them, some do not. (This may entail a trip across the country to visit her, "girl-cousins", as she always called them, photos in hand to see if they can put names on any faces. With some time to kill the other day while in town, I wandered into a scrapbooking store. While it peaked my interest, it also daunted me quite a bit. I am WAY out of my league knowledge-wise here! The clerks gave me the address of their web page & I thought I would start there, however it only lists the classes they give. Town is too far away to learn that way & have a book ready for my brother in December when his birthday is. I know there are books & web pages out there & have looked at some. The quanity of information is in itself overwhelming to me. Since everyone on this board is so friendly & helpful I decided to ask here first! Does anyone have any experience scrapbooking or photo/memory collecting? If so, are there books or websites you would reccommend? I am going thru the photos now, picking the ones I will copy (I have a GREAT printer/copier/fax/scanner for it) & culling her written words to match up some with photos to go on pages together. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I mean, there are these things called eyelets or rivets, or something...but you have to use a tool the same size and....well...you see my problem! Any ideas out there?
