Recipe: Authentic Italian Pizzelle (Magic Maid Pizzelle Grill, 1975)

1/2 cup margarine
2/3 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 3/4 to 2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla*
Pinch salt
Beat margarine until smooth. Gradually add sugar and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla and beat; set aside.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt into egg mixture. Dough will be sticky soft. For best results, make a soft batter.
(Bake using pizzelle iron according to manufacturer's directions.)
Pizzelles can be made in advance will keep indefinitely. May be frozen if desired, without loss of flavor.
*I substitute Anise oil for the vanilla.
