Recipe: Black Raspberry Bars (layered, using oats and preserves, 1960's)

BLACK RASPBERRY BARS

3/4 cup margarine, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 (12 oz.) jar seedless black raspberry preserves

Cream margarine and brown sugar. Add flour, salt and baking soda sifted together; mix well. Stir in roiled oats.

Press half of crumb mixture into greased 13x9-inch pan. Spread with preserves; cover with remaining crumb mixture.

Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 minutes. Coo 15 minutes; cut in bars.

Makes 2 dozen bars
