Recipe: Chocolate Pound Cake (Treasure Chest)
Misc. Chrystal ~
You might make your pirate birday cake to resemble a treasure chest.
Below is a chocolate pound cake recipe previously posted on TKL.
I would make this cake and then freeze it so it is easier to handle. Hopefully the top will crown a bit like a treasure chest might be.
When ready to frost, slice off a piece of the top and insert some plastic favors inside the "treasure chest." Plastic jewelry or choc coins would be fun. You could use a mellon ball scoop to remove some of the inside cake if needed. Replace the top piece of the cake and frost with chocolate frosting. Decorate and accent using black string licorace and maybe jeweled candies.
The treasure inside the cake will not be seen until the cake is actually cut.
Have fun.
