Recipe(tried): for homegrown:Thai Beef Salad (Yam Nuea)

Misc.

Homegrown:

I am very sorry about the belated post... For some unknown reason, I didn't come around to type this out earlier! I hope you don't think that I totally forgot about you!!! It's quite a hot and tasty dish but I am not too sure if it's "traditional" enough... ^_^ I hope your hubby enjoys it...

Thai Beef Salad (Yam Nuea)
In Bangkok, this recipe is one of the favorite in restaurants and home kitchens alike.
Serve 4

1lb. Tender beef steak (fillet)
Salad:
cup sliced onions
1 tomato, cut into wedges
cup sliced cucumber
thinly sliced red and green Thai chili peppers (prik khee noo/bird's eye chili)
Sauce:
cup fish sauce (nam pla)
cup fresh lime juice
2 T. minced garlic (kratiem)
2 T. chopped cilantro/coriander leaves (bai pak chee)
cup chopped green onions/scallions/spring onions, in 1-in pieces

Barbecue the beef over charcoal or broil/grill under medium to well done. Let stand for 5 minutes. Slice thinly and set aside.

Combine all the salad ingredients and add the sliced beef.

Make the sauce by mixing together all the ingredients, and toss with the salad just before serving
