Recipe(tried): Freezing strawberries

Slice them, sprinkle with approx. 1/4 cup sugar per 2 cups berries, toss gently and let macerate for 10-15 minutes (juice will develop.) Pack into freezer bags or plastic freezer containers. They are great thawed for strawberry shortcake, or use while frozen (break into chunks) for smoothies and milkshakes.

You can also freeze them whole by placing the berries in a single layer on a cookie sheet and placing in the freezer until solid. Then place the loose, frozen berries in freezer bags for future use. (After washing the strawberries, make sure they are thoroughly dried before using this method.)
