Recipe: Garlic Butter Rye Toast (1950's)

GARLIC BUTTER RYE TOAST

"Delicious with a snack tray of cheeses."

Crush part of a garlic bud to a pulp. Mix into 1/4 lb. (1/2 cup) softened butter.

Spread very thin slices of rye bread with the garlic butter. Lay the slices on a baking sheet, not overlapping.

Place in moderate oven until dry and crisp, not toasted - 30 to 45 minutes.
