Holiday Braid

1 pkg yeast
1 cup milk
4 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp grated lemon peel
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped red and green candied cherries
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped pecans

1 tbl water
1 egg yolk
GLAZE
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1 tbl milk
Additional candied cherries -- o

NOTES : Place first 7 ingred. in bread machine on dough cycle. Add cherries, raisins and pecans about half way through the dough cycle. Remove at the beep. On floured surface, divide dough into 4 pieces. Roll 3 pieces into 15" ropes. Braid ropes; place on a greased baking sheet. Divide the last piece of dough in half; roll each into a 15" rope. Twist ropes. Press an indention down the center of braided loaf; place twisted dough in the indention. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 min. Beat egg yolk and water; brush over loaf. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 min. Cover loosely with foil; bake 20-25 min. more. Cool on wire rack. Combine sugar and milk; drizzle over loaf. Decorate with cherries if desired.
