Recipe: Garlic-Cheese Croutons (using biscuit mix) (1984)

2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon red pepper sauce
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease rectangular pan, 13x9x2 inches.
Mix all ingredients; pat in pan with fingers dipped in baking mix.
Bake until golden brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Cool 10 minutes; cut into 1/2-inch cubes.
Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
Place croutons on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake until crisp and golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes.
Store in sealed plastic bag at room temperature.
Makes about 6 cups croutons
