Hot Fruit Compote
This appeared in the Pillsbury Holiday 1991 issue. I have made it for my family for a long time and they really enjoy the warm flavors.

Serves 8

1 (20 oz) pineapple chunks - drained
1 (16 oz) peach slices - drained
1 (16 oz) pear slices - drained
1 (11 oz) mandarine oranges - drained
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 orange juice
2 Tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
maraschino cherries optional

Heat oven to 375. Arrange all fruit except cherries in a 9x13-inch baking dish or 1 1/2 qt casserole dish. In a small pan over med heat, combine all remaining ingredients except cherries. Heat and stir until brown sugar in dissolved and butter is melted. Pour over fruit and bake for 25 min. or until fruit is heated through. Garnish with cherries and may be served in a chafer if desired.
