Recipe(tried): How to Clean a Straw Pocketbook - Also, A Vinegar Wipe Down Might Help....
Tips and Tricks - Home and GardenDear Pat,
I agree with Marilyn on using Febreeze inside and cleaning the outside with Oxy-Clean.
Before using the Febreeze, I would dampen a terry facecloth with white vinegar and give it a good wiping inside. Then let a fan blow it dry. Afterwards, use the Febreeze, let that dry out and then overnight, try 2-3 Downy or any other dryer sheet for extra good odor.
The vinegar should take care of the musty smell.
Good Luck! Gina
