Recipe: Monster Mix (with peanut butter crackers and candy corn) for IcyMist
Appetizers and SnacksHi,
This is the recipe that I have. The candy corns are mixed in after the mixture has cooled, but maybe you can stir them in after it bakes, while still warm, to make it more like you remember.
MONSTER MIX
1 (11 ounce) package small pretzels
1 (10 ounce) package peanut butter crackers (miniature size)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 (10 ounce) package M&M's
1 (18 ounce) package candy corn
Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
Mix the pretzels and peanut butter crackers and set aside.
Then in a good-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, butter, and the corn syrup. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring it over medium heat and simmer it for about 5 minutes.
Next, remove from the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla and the baking soda. Pour the hot mixture over the pretzels and crackers and stir until everything is coated. ransfer the entire mixture to a greased baking pan.
Bake for 45 minutes. You should stir it every 10 minutes or so. Remove it from the oven and break it all apart while warm. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
After it's all cooled, transfer the mix to a large bowl and toss it with the candy corn and M&M's.
