Recipe(tried): More consistent temperature

I built one of these things a few years ago after seeing it on Good Eats. I experienced the same swings in temperature until I cracked open the hotplate and removed the thermocouple fuse. If you're up to it, a couple of quick snips and a bit of solder will produce a steady 200+ temperature.
