NO-KNEAD KOLACKY
1/2 cup scalded milk
3 tablespoons shortening
3 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 cup water.
1 cake compressed yeast (or 1 package dry granular yeast)
1 egg
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
12 pitted, cooked prunes or apricots dipped in nuts (or a teaspoon of jam may also be used.)
Icing (recipe follows)
Combine scalded milk, shortening, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm by adding 1/2 cup water. Add yeast; mix well. Mix in 1 egg. Add flour; mix until dough is well-blended and soft.
Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut into rounds with 2 1/2-inch cutter. Place on greased baking sheet. Let rise in warm place (80 to 85 degrees F) until double in bulk, about 1 hour.
Press indentation in center of each bun. Place 1 pitted, cooked prune or apricot dipped in nuts in each indentation. A teaspoon of jam may also be used.
Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees F) for 20 minutes.
Drip Icing over warm kolacky.

4 teaspoons warm milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Combine the confectioner's sugar, warm milk and vanilla.
Makes 12 kolacky
