Recipe(tried): pickles

Preserving - Pickles, Relishes
This recipe for pickles does not have red hots but does have the hot sauce. Maybe it's similar to what you had.

1 6 oz. bottle Tabasco sauce (McIlhenney pref.)
chopped garlic (= to 3 cloves)
1 gallon hamburger dills
jars (12 oz. or smaller for gifts)
3-4 lbs. sugar (use to suit taste)

Drain pickles in colander. Layer pickles 1-2" deep in original jar. Pour about 1 C. sugar on this layer. Sprinkle hot sauce & garlic on same layer. Continue repeating this until all pickles, garlic and hot sauce are used. Cover tightly & let sit 12-24 hrs. Turn upside down for another 12-24 hrs. Refrigerate before eating (makes them crisp).
