Recipe(tried): Relish Tray Ideas

Hi Valarie~ There are no set "rules" for what you put on a relish tray. A lot of what you use depends upon your guests and upon what veggies are available. Here are a few ideas.

green onions
radishes
sweet pickles
dill pickles
black olives
green olives
celery sticks (stuffed or not)
carrot sticks
cauliflower broken into bite sized pieces
broccoli broken into bite sized pieces
baby tomatoes
baby corn
asparagus spears
sliced green, yellow, red and orange peppers

Be sure to clean all of these items very carefully. Slice in attractive and finger-food sizes.

I usually line my tray with attractive, fresh lettuce, making a lacy fringe around the outer edge of the plate. Place your veggie items on the tray in clusters and alternating your colors attractively. I then use fresh parsley (and usually lots of it) to embelish the tray, sticking clusters of parsely between sections or around the center grouping of veggies.

If you are making this at home and taking it to the party already assembled, I suggest you cover the finished plater with cold wet light-weight kitchen towels or wet paper towels and then plastic wrap to keep everything moist.
