Recipe: Smoked Salmon Cheese Ball
Appetizers and SnacksHi Mary Jo, Here's a recipe for you to experiment with if you don't find the one you're looking for - maybe someone will have one to share. I'm sure you can leave out the salmon with good results. You may also want to try a plain cheese ball recipe and just stir in horseradish to taste. Happy Holidays, Betsy
SMOKED SALMON CHEESEBALL
From: Peggy on 2/25/98
Makes 1 cheeseball
Serves 4 to 6 people as an hors d'oeuvre
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, room temperature
1 (6 1/2 oz) can smoked salmon*
1/2 cup ground pecans
1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 tsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp Horseradish
1 quick shake worcestershire sauce
TO GARNISH:
Chopped nuts or chopped fresh chives
Mix all ingredients together, except chopped nuts or chives, and roll into a ball. Roll in either chopped nuts or chives. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to use.
*If smoked salmon is unavailable use canned salmon and 1/8 teaspoon of liquid smoke. Use more liquid smoke if you like a stronger flavor.
