SOUTHERN BISCUITS
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons shortening
2/3 cup milk
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl. Cut in shortening. Add milk to make soft dough.
Round-up on lightly floured board and knead lightly about 30 seconds. Roll or pat out 1/4-inch thick. Cut. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown and serve with butter, jelly, honey or syrup.
Makes 20 (1 3/4-inch) biscuits (1-inch high)
