Recipe: Southwestern Shrimp & Avocado Sauce

We were talking about Southwestern cooking on the live chat board earlier. I happened to have a recipe here. Is this "traditional" at all? ^_^

SOUTHWESTERN SHRIMP

1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup each: grapefruit juice and tequila
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon each: ground cumin and salt
1/2 teaspoon each: sugar and hot red pepper sauce
1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
Avocado Sauce (recipe follows)

Combine oil, juice, tequila, garlic, cumin, salt, sugar and hot sauce in large bowl; stir until well blended. Add shrimp. Toss to coat well. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours, turning occasionally.

Remove shrimp from marinade. Boil marinade for a couple of minutes.

Grill shrimp 4-inches from heat 4 to 5 minutes. Turn once and brush frequently with marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.

Serve with Avocado Sauce.

AVOCADO SAUCE
Makes 2 cups

2 ripe avocados, peeled and mashed
1 small tomato, chopped
1/4 cup each: drained, chopped green chilies, minced onion and sour
cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon tequila
1/2 teaspoon salt

Combine avocado, tomato, chilies, onion, sour cream, cilantro, tequila and salt in small bowl. Cover and refrigerate.
