Recipe(tried): Tailgating party for children - menu ideas
Holidays, CelebrationsI can tell you that my kids (ages 8 - 19) would tend to reach for the simple meatballs, anything that looked like chicken nuggets, bite-sized pieces of fruit, and empanadas made with a simple, not-too-spicy filling.
I tend to fill our empanadas with a mixture of ground beef or diced chicken, a bit of rice, and shredded cheese, held together with enough tomato sauce to moisten - sometimes I use spaghetti sauce, sometimes I use enchilada sauce.
Nearly all kids love hot dogs and hamburgers.
You probably ought to include at least some baby carrots and dip, but don't be surprised if the fresh vegetables are the main leftovers!
Some kids will eat a pasta salad that's not overloaded with vegetables.
Remember to have cookies, a sheet cake, or cupcakes topped with sprinkles in the school colors. I like to make mini-cupcakes for kids, since most of them eat the icing and throw away the cake part.
Let us know what you end up serving!
