ISO: Dried preserved lemons

Misc.
I am looking for a recipe for "Li Hui Moi" (sp???) or dried preserved lemons. My husband grew up in Hawaii and these were like candy to him. Our local Chinese grocery used to sell them but they no longer do. My husband says that the older Chinese ladies used to have jars of these curing on their patios. All we know is they are made by soaking whole lemons in a brine of salt, sugar and anise. We have no details on amounts to use for the brine or length of time to soak. Can anyone help, please??? This would be great if I can surprise him with a recipe or two. Thanks.
